Natural Gas in East Tennessee
There are about 4 fleets that use natural gas in East Tennessee, with most of them based in Sevier County (see list at right). However, the largest user is KUB. KUB has over 70 AFVs that they run on CNG (compressed natural gas), with about ten of those being new additions this year.

KUB has been operating NGVs (natural gas vehicles) since early in the 1990's, and is a Platinum Partner
in the ETCFC. They are continuing to grow their NGV fleet, which helps East TN grow the use of AFVs.
In Sevier County, the use of CNG has come to be in the last two years. It began when Pigeon Forge
purchased two NGVs in 2002, and continued with Gatlinburg's purchase of three dedicated CNG
police cruisers last year. Also in 2003, Sevierville got on-board by purchasing several CNG
F-150s. Other than recognizing the need to move to cleaner vehicles, the one other common undercurrent
to their efforts has been the involvement of Sevier County Utility District. The utility has paid
for and installed the infrastructure for each of these city's projects, and is working to be a part of a
multi-alt-fuel station that Sevierville is looking to build in the next year.
All of these NGV owners are members of the ETCFC.
